ORIGINAL BIG BAND SWINGS INTO THE LEVOY ON JULY 13
Relive the days of old with Glenn Miller Orchestra

Glenn Miller Orchestra Big Band
Glenn Miller Orchestra returns the big band swing to the Levoy!

From its Moonlight Serenade to Chattanooga Choo-Choo and countless other classics, there’s nothing quite like the sound of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. On Saturday, July 13, 2016, you can experience it live as the world-famous big band swings its way onto center stage at The Levoy Theatre in Millville, NJ.

The legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930’s and 40’s. A matchless string of hit records, the constant impact of radio broadcasts and the drawing power at theatres, hotels and dance pavilions, built and sustained the momentum of popularity. Glenn disbanded his musical organization in 1942 at the height of its popularity to volunteer for the Army. There, he organized and led the famous Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band (AAFB). It went to Europe to entertain servicemen performing numerous live and radio shows until Major Miller went missing over the English Channel, never to be seen again.

His music was to live on, though, as drummer Ray McKinley, the unofficial leader of the Army Air Force Band after Miller’s disappearance, reformed the group into what is known today as the Glenn Miller Orchestra. It performed its first concert in 1956, and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, the 18-member ensemble continues to play many of the original Miller arrangements both from the civilian band and the AAFB libraries. It also plays some more modern selections arranged and performed in the Miller style and sound.

See it for yourself on Saturday, July 13, 2016 at 7 PM. Come early and enjoy wine, beer, and spirits at the new Vaudeville Bar (located upstairs). Bar opens at 6 PM and runs through the end of the show. The Levoy Theatre is located at 126-130 N. High Street in Millville, NJ. For tickets and more information, visit www.levoy.net.
