550 Students Invited to View
Cultural Enriching Performance
January 31, 2013
The Levoy Theatre is pleased to offer a culturally and visually enriching program to regional schools on March 13, 2013. Several area elementary schools in Cumberland County as well as a facility in Atlantic County, which assists adults with disabilities, will attend the afternoon showing of The Golden Dragon Acrobats: Cirque Ziva.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats are recognized throughout the United States and abroad as the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company. World renowned impresario, Danny Chang, and choreographer, Angela Chang, combine award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques to present a show of breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty.
This particular program was selected as the focus for this project due to its ability to reach all age and interest levels. The students and their accompanying faculty members will enjoy the acrobatic performance as well as take part in a thirty-minute question and answer segment with the performers. As a supplement to the performance, the company has provided the Levoy with an extensive study guide to prepare the students and teachers for their experience at the Theatre. For many of the attendees this will be their first time at the Levoy and for some this could be their first time at a real performing arts theatre. Therefore, it is important the students have an opportunity to witness the wonder of live theatre, feel comfortable with their visit and leave knowing that they have the desire to return.
This collaborative outreach program was made possible through generous funding in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State and the Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission. The Levoy Theatre is dedicated to providing culturally beneficial programming to our community and beyond.
