Step In Time: An Introduction to Tap
Instructor: Olivia Cruz

An introductory level style class for TEENS AND ADULT dancers who want to learn the basics of technique, style and rhythm for Broadway style tap dance.

No experience is necessary for this fun, supportive, and upbeat class!

Suggested Attire: Please note: Tap shoes are a requirement for this class. Email education@levoy.net if you need tap shoe suggestions. We are happy to help you “Step in Time!”

Stage Combat: Fundamentals of Sword for Stage
Instructor: Dominic Ciarrocchi

In this class students will learn the basics of theatrical sword work along with associated unarmed techniques.

The class will include themes of Consent, Communication, and Consistency along with the physical techniques that form the bedrock of safe and effective sword fighting for stage.

The class will conclude with a student showcase where family and friends will be welcome to see the students perform a short scene that they’ll help write over the duration of the course.

Suggested Attire: Swords will be provided. Students should wear clothing they can move comfortably in and bring water. Closed toed shoes are required. Students should also bring gloves; batting gloves work well for this application.

Acting Through Song: Teen Musical Theatre/Acting
Instructor: Nick Flagg

Students will receive a step by step approach to breaking down lyrics, the way music informs a theatrical moment, and how to create nuanced acting techniques through scene and song work.

This course is perfect for honing audition skills for both musical and straight acting, and perfect for the student looking to dive deeper into the world of acting, character development, and working with a scene partner, as well as solo work.

Students will leave with a greater understanding of what it means to act through a song, and how that applies to non-musical acting as well.

Students will work towards an informal showcase on the final class where friends and family are welcome to attend.

Suggested Attire: Appropriate Activewear and Sneakers or Jazz Shoes. Bring a water bottle to every class.

God I Hope I Get it!: Dance Audition Prep
Instructor: Olivia Cruz

Using ballet and jazz as the basis of this class, teen through adult students will work on a variety of combinations to better prepare actors for a dance audition.

Using musical theatre, pop, and classical music students will experience a variety of music, dance styles, and techniques that will help you become a more informed dancer and nail the dance audition! A 5-6-7-8!

Suggested Attire: Movement clothes and proper jazz or ballet shoes are required for this class.
