ABOUT HANDS UP SILENT THEATRE:
The mission of Hands Up Silent Theatre is to encourage the d/Deaf/HOH community to learn more about the performing arts and to encourage the hearing community to learn ASL and interact with d/Deaf/HOH peers. The vision is to create performances for the d/Deaf/HOH communities to enjoy as one! Our founder Kristy Whilden is a former music educator who lost most of her hearing in 2014 to progressive sensorineural hearing loss. With the help of her daughter and our co-founder she was encouraged to not lose her love of the performing arts forever. Kristy and Hailey both obtained a degree in Deaf Studies and ASL and created Hands Up together. It was Kristy’s dream to have all eyes on stage deaf and hearing alike to enjoy the lights, sets, costumes, and emotions of the actors/actresses instead of stuck in the corner staring at an interpreter. In our theater we use SIMCOM which is Simultaneous Communication of ASL and English. At every show every actor signs, there are certified interpreters in the theater and the first three rows are reserved for the d/Deaf/HOH communities.

Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.
A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!
