It is Fun to Have Fun But You Have to Know How!
While our campers have been busy learning either 101 Dalmatians – Kids! or You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, we’ve been cooking up an assortment of treats to add even more excitement to their daily camp schedules. Recently, Triple Threat Workshop performed Seussical – the Musical at the Levoy Theatre. Fortunately for us, Miss Caitlin, the Artistic Director of Triple Threat Workshop, is also the Artistic Director of all things musical for the Levoy Summer Camp. When she offered our campers a music and dance-filled peek into the fantastical world of all things Doctor Seuss, we couldn’t say no! We took a quote from the musical to heart and thought, “Look at me! Look at me! Look at me NOW! It is fun to have fun, but you have to know how.” What a great way to have fun!
Seussical – the Musical
Seussical – the Musical revisits many of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and JoJo. It’s a family-friendly musical comedy, of course, but in typical Seuss style, it tells a deeper underlying story. This one is of friendship, loyalty, and love.
So, our campers had the opportunity to run a crash course in all things Seussical. It was the perfect opportunity to switch gears and take a break from the intensity of preparing for a performance. Cast members from Seussical – the Musical taught the kids some of the songs and choreography from the show. After that, the campers enjoyed an exclusive performance of some of the scenes from Seussical – the Musical.

The Critics’ Reviews
Our campers were more than excited about this opportunity, with nothing to give but positive feedback. “The colors were so colorful and fun!” “Lazy Mayzie’s tail feathers were amazing!” “Miss Julianna was funny and the perfect fit for the part of the Cat in the Hat.” “My favorite part was the music. I’d give it five million out of ten.”
