Elf – the Musical

Book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin
Music by Matthew Sklar
Lyrics by Chad Beguelin
Based upon the New Line Cinema film written by David Berenbaum

Elf the Musical, based on the 2003 New Line Cinema hit starring Will Ferrell, is the charming tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. Buddy is elf-raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, he embarks on a journey to New York City with dreams to find his birth father and discover his true identity. What’s an adopted elf to do when he realizes his father is on Santa’s ‘naughty’ list and his half-brother doesn’t believe that there is a Santa Claus? It’s up to Buddy to save Christmas! Find your inner ELF as the writers of Annie and The Wedding Singer bring us the unforgettable gift of a Broadway musical for the holiday season! After all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

ELF – THE MUSICAL is presented through special arrangements with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com

Eileen Ivers

Eileen Ivers:

“[T]he Jimi Hendrix of the violin.”– The New York Times

It’s the most wonderful time of the year …and, for over twenty years, Eileen and the band have been celebrating the glorious story of Christmas thoughtfully, uniquely and with pure unbridled joy!! Eileen’s Irish and American roots shine through the evening’s music, beautifully mixing traditional, story-filled folk, age-old Wren Day songs, a jig-ified Bach, fiddle looping, and of course foot stomping and hollering roots music. Eileen and the ensemble’s twenty instruments and voices weave throughout the evening coupled with Ivers’ signature warmth, inviting listeners in for a tuneful, soulful celebration capturing the true spirit of the season rejoicing in the traditional story of Christmas.

Fiddler Eileen Ivers will change the way you think about the violin. She has a never-ending list of accomplishments including Grammy awards; concerts for Presidents and Royalty; and, perhaps most memorably, her Musical Star role for Riverdance. A rockstar with a fiddle, Eileen Ivers spirited approach to music is not to be missed!

The Polar Express (Movie)

Tom Hanks plays the train conductor of a magical train heading for the North Pole, in addition to five other parts. Based on a storybook written by Chris Van Allsburg, the Christmas story tells of a boy who has reached an age when he begins to have doubts believing in Santa. Late one Christmas Eve, the young boy is lying awake waiting for the sound of sleigh bells ringing from Santa’s sleigh. Five minutes to midnight his room begins to shake, and he hears a thunderous sound outside his window. The boy jumps from his bed and sees a train in the middle of his street. The boy grabs his robe and rushes out the front door to look at the train. The train’s conductor asks the boy if he is getting aboard. The boy asks, “Where are you going?’ ‘To the North Pole, of course, this is the Polar Express!’ At the last minute, the boy jumps on the train and finds other young boys and girls going to the North Pole. Their adventure begins. On the train he meets lots of other children, among them a know-it-all, a clever girl and a poor boy. During the trip to the North Pole, there are several complications and complications before the end of the journey comes. Among others, the tracks are covered with ice and a child loses its ticket. When they reach the north pole, the children meet Santa Claus, and the boy gets the very first Christmas present of the year, a sleigh bell from Santa Claus’ sleigh. They return safely to their homes in time for Christmas Day, and the boy finds the Christmas Present from Santa beneath his tree, after which the story concludes.
