Our Creative Sparks performing arts camps for kids ages 7-12 are specially designed to support and empower young talent, creating a magical experience where their creativity can truly shine. We believe that every child is special and we are dedicated to helping them discover and develop their own unique potential. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure where the stage is all theirs!

For ages 7-12, our Disney’s Jungle Book Kids musical theatre camp brings the magic of the jungle to life, while Bye Bye Birdie Jr. (ages 12-18) transports teens to the energetic world of 1950s rock & roll. Aspiring sound engineers ages 12-19 can join our Sound of Engineering camp, mastering speakers, mics, mixers, and more. In our Strum & Sing camp (ages 9-13), children learn to play the ukulele and sing, creating harmonious melodies together. Additionally, our popular Creative Stage camp (ages 7-13) offers a rich tapestry of experiences, from claymation and sewing to dancing, bucket and cup percussion, paper doll costuming, and beyond. Join us for an unforgettable journey where creativity knows no bounds!

Wrap-around care is available on a daily and a weekly basis for Jungle Book Kids and Bye Bye Birdie: Youth Edition.

Description: 

Embark on a jungle adventure that goes beyond the stage! In this captivating musical experience for kids ages 6-11, the jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS. Specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie.

Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.

Show Dates: Group A Saturday, 7/13/24 @ 2p.m. and 5 p.m. Group B: Sunday, 7/14/24 @ 2 p.m. and  5p.m.

Sound Engineering 101 is for teens interested in designing, troubleshooting and running a live sound system.  

You will learn about sound theory, equipment including speakers, mixer consoles,  microphones and cables, stage set up, using a mixer, troubleshooting and recording. As a result of this course you will be able to:

  • Eliminate Feedback
  • Get Crystal Clear Vocals
  • Be an EQ Expert
  • Run Monitors
  • Use Master Compressors/Gates
  • Troubleshoot Impossible Problems
  • Design/Upgrade a System

The course will be lecture, demonstration and hands on! We will simulate running sound for live performances.

This five day “camp” gives your child the opportunity to experience a number of different performing arts experiences. It’s a mix and match – pick the days your child is interested in, or come all five days!

This year’s theme is “Beach Fun”.

Monday: “Rhythmic Waves & Beach Ball Claymation”: Dive into the rhythm of the Beach Boys with our bucket drumming session and unleash your creativity in stop motion claymation inspired by the playful bounce of beach balls.

Tuesday: “Crafty Ocean Critters & Beach Beats”: Join us as we sew magnetic felt fish, bringing the underwater world to life, and then feel the burn with Cardio Drumming to the tunes of Footloose.

Wednesday: “Fashionable Beach Friends & Sea Shanty Beats”: Embark on a creative journey with paper doll costuming, transforming your dolls into beachside characters. Feel the ocean’s pulse with cup percussion, set to the rhythm of the popular sea shanty, Wellerman.

Thursday: “Island Glam & Hula Jam”: Discover the magic of the stage with stage makeup tutorials, create vibrant leis, and sway to the tropical rhythm with our Hula dance lessons, transforming into a beachside paradise performer.

Friday: “Dance Waves & Poseidon’s Mystery”: Groove to the beat with Mashed Potato & the Twist Dances, turning the beach into your dance floor, then channel your inner detective in the interactive mystery, ‘Who Stole Poseidon’s Trident,’ bringing a thrilling finale to our week of beach fun.
