Béla Fleck & the Flecktones featuring Victor Wooten, Roy “Futureman” Wooten and Howard Levy:

Groundbreaking banjoist/composer/bandleader Béla Fleck has reconvened the original ‘Béla Fleck & The Flecktones’, the extraordinary initial line-up of his incredible combo. Rocket Science marks the first recording by the first fab four Flecktones in almost two decades, with pianist/harmonica player Howard Levy back in the fold alongside Fleck, bassist Victor Wooten, and percussionist/ Drumitarist Roy “Futureman” Wooten. Far from being a wistful trip back in time, the album sees the Grammy Award-winning quartet creating some of the most forward-thinking music of their long, storied career. While all manners of genres come into play—from classical and jazz to bluegrass and African music to electric blues and Eastern European folk dances—the result is an impossible to pigeonhole sound all their own, a meeting of musical minds that remains, as ever, utterly indescribable. Simply put, it is The Flecktones, the music made only when these four individuals come together.

“What I needed,” replied banjo innovator when asked about the 1989 formation of Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, “were people that were kind of freaks. Each person had to be an equal or more, and that’s what made it work when I ran into these guys and we started playing together.”

The original lineup of the groundbreaking Béla Fleck & The FlecktonesFleck with Howard Levy on piano and harmonica, percussionist / drumitarist Future Man and bassist Victor Wooten—have expanded their 30th Anniversary run, including June 4 at The Levoy Theatre!

Dean Ford & The Beautiful Ones- A Tribute 2 Prince:

Dressed 2 the 9’s, Dean Ford embodies PRINCE with every fiber of his being, giving you a show as close as you will ever get to the real thing. Ford and company perform all the hits you know and love, including the “Purple Rain” album in its entirety. But, it’s more than just the songs. He’s got the look, the moves, and the sounds down jaw-droppingly well. So well, you’ll forget it’s only a tribute.

It all started in 2012, when Dean Ford and his musician friends put on their first of many sold out tributes to the Purple One in Portland, Maine. The show, lovingly entitled “Purple Brainz” is now held annually at the prestigious, Port City Music Hall. Past shows have featured Prince and The Revolution’s own keyboardist Matt “Doctor” Fink. Lately, Ford has been sticking with a rotation of his core band, The Beautiful Ones. Though, he and the band have plenty of surprises up their frilled sleeves.
