Are you interested in learning to play Celtic music?
Join us at The Levoy Arts and Education Center on the 3rd Friday of each month from 6 pm – 7 pm for a Celtic Slow Session! A slow session is a great place to build your list of tunes, and practice them at a slower pace so you really get to know them.
If you are an advanced beginner or intermediate instrumentalist, this is a perfect way to learn! We will be practicing at about 50% of traditional speed (hence, “SLOW” session!), so it’s a great tempo to really learn the tunes well.
Having sheet music can be helpful for some players at first, so we’re music stand friendly. That said, since Celtic music is a folk tradition, ultimately you will want to learn not to rely on sheet music. We encourage you to learn to play by ear; and to learn to play by memory. We’ll start with simple tunes, and eventually build up to sets.
Stay “tuned” for a list of tunes for our second session on April 21, 2023!
