Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including "Tomorrow."
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations... and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

AUDITION INFO:
Director Maura Mather and The Levoy Theatre are excited to announce auditions for ANNIE! We are looking to cast a diverse and energetic group of performers ages 8 and up.
Please note, this is a non-equity production, but all actors will receive a travel stipend.
Vocal selection:
Prepare 16–32 bars (approximately 1 minute) of a song in the style of Annie. You may also sing a selection from the show.
Accompaniment:
Please bring backing music with no vocals on a phone or other device. Bluetooth and AUX connections will be available. No a cappella auditions will be accepted.
Cold readings:
Selected scenes from the script may be provided at the audition. No advance preparation is required.
Callbacks by invitation only. You will receive an email on August 18 if you are called back.
To prepare for callbacks, selections of songs and sides from the show will be provided. Come prepared to learn a short dance combination. A video will be provided on the morning of the callback to help you prepare. Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for movement.Â
Rehearsals will begin in late August and will typically be held on Sundays from 2 pm-6 pm, Mondays from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm, and Wednesdays from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm. Additional days may be added as needed, according to cast availability. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed after casting.
Please list all known conflicts at your audition. Tech week will run from November 7-12. No absences will be accepted during tech week or performances. Rehearsals will be scheduled to suit the cast's availability. Not all performers will be asked to attend all rehearsals.
