What Past Participants Are Saying...
"This experience was new to me and really opened my eyes. I now have a deeper appreciation for the background of veterans and an understanding of why I’m able to be here today. Hearing their stories—seeing their point of view—was incredibly powerful and different from my own."

"Noble and beautiful. I feel honored to have been part of this moment. It’s something I’ll carry with me. I’ve come to appreciate life more deeply. I was especially moved by Sheila, a veteran who uses a wheelchair but is practicing to stand and salute at the performance. Her devotion makes me proud."

"This program brought out new confidence (in Sheila, our 82-year-old veteran participant who is reading her monologue and also in the choir). I never imagined I’d be on stage!"

"It was so much more than I expected. Seeing so many different people come together was powerful—a true work of art. I feel privileged to be part of it."

"I’m new to the area, and this has been life-changing. It gave me space to show vulnerability and make new friends. I’m devastated that it’s almost over."

"I’ve never felt more proud to be an American. Meeting the veterans filled me with joy—I was so excited I jumped. I cried."

"My father was a veteran and wrote war poems. I’m deeply grateful for the conversations this program sparked. Our choir conductor chose one of my dad’s poems for me to read during the concert. It means his voice will be part of this. I couldn’t hold back my tears."

"This was such an interesting and healing experiment. For many veterans—especially minority veterans—there are few outlets to process their experiences unless they’re near a base. Often, it’s either therapy or a bar. This program was something different. So much positivity. It brought back memories I hadn’t touched in years. I truly hope it expands."

"In today’s political climate, where everything feels so polarized, it matters that this program reminds us we can still be proud to be American."
